i agree with you, they are great people.
milt, its funny you ask me about seasons in chile. now it´s spring and it´s warm but i shot this video in juni (i normaly post what i shot during the week).

Oh god, I am so longing to be in Europe. I had forgotten how cool the train stations are, and of course the trains. Is there any way to travel that’s more fun?? I don’t think so.

Mike Gver – cool. So I am really curious to see the comparison of the wide angle vs the regular angle. It looks very natural that it is hard to believe that this is a fish eye lens.

I’ve been living in Spain for the last 4 years, 4 years where I have lived, worked, studied, traveled and a thousand other things.

I am not very keen to repeat in words and verse how important and enriching the experience has been, today I prefer to let the images speak for themselves because if a picture is worth a thousand words how much worth 4000 pictures?

I appreciate your longer explanation. I agree with what you are saying. It’s fascinating. I think of it more as being keep in cold storage for many years, and then suddenly being thrust into the open. There was a fun movie a few years ago with Christopher Walken and Brendan Frazier where they had been in an elaborate bomb shelter for many many years. The father has a heart attack and they have to leave the shelter. The same sort of innocence was present there too. Very strange.

Milt, My comment has nothing to do with Gabriel’s video itself. It has to do with the subject, the people from former USSR and other former ‘behind the iron curtain’ countries. It strikes me that people from those countries seem to have a sort of innocence, introvertness, etc.. But I know that this is not always the whole truth at the same time. But at least it seems to be so.

I used to work a long time ago at the printing department of a fruit import company. They had Russian ships who brought bananas from Columbia. Once in a while we had these sailors and captains around who insisted we had lunch with them aboard (with lots of vodka). This same sort of feel, slightly formal, spiced with some shyness, a longing for friendship, sharing, etc. but also a certain uncertainty in their behaviour… I’m not sure how to put it exactly, but one thing is sure: its nice and human and goes beyound being too well educated in selling and presenting yourself that is very much a part of our western world.

Thats interesting. I’ll keep following. I believe you are right to say ‘different planet and different time’. I’ve seen a lot of documentairies about former Russia and former Balkan countries. They all seem to have this sort of naive and innocent feel… officially!

Hi there, yes there is a purpose : Gomel has been the twin city of Clermont-Ferrand for a long time (dates back to the communist period) and every year there are cultural exchanges. It was my first visit and I was impressed. People lived in a post commmunist country, 100 km from chernobyl and it looks as if they are living on a different planet or at a different time… of you ar interested there 8 or 9 episodes and i’ll put them all on semanal.
