La Caixa comes advancing an initiative called ” Art to the Carrer ” that seeks to bring the art over to the street.Already last year the artist Igor Mirotaj was exposing his monumental sculptures and this year the shift is for the Valencian sculptor Manolo Valdés.
Giant faces, statues that reflect classics as the meninas of Velazquez, the “visitors” interacting with the statues and the art coming together with the people near the street.

Recently, I was in Montreal and luckily I had my camera when I stumbled onto this sculpture again. This time, I got to see it at night! Then later, I found him a “friend.”

this is one of the bellydancers at Gar Musichall in Istanbul. I don’t know how she did some of these moves - such fine movements compared to the other girls. 23/05/2008

Whatever lingering cultural history may have once enshrined piñatas, I don’t think these kids are learning about its pre-Columbian heritage…
