Often I’m so busy doing other things that I never take the time to notice how interesting the world can be. Partially a response to Dave Huth’s “On Paying Attention’ Music: “analogs” http://www.mobygratis.com

as we finish moving cross country, i am starting to go through my stuff at my mom’s house which she is also moving out of. all this moving… it’s really strange reading old journals and seeing old photos and videos. keep some, throw most away.

p.s. don’t my mom’s cats look like some alternate reality version of battle cat and white baby?

p.p.s it’s videobloggging week 2008. go get ‘em!

First day of videobloggingweek 2008 – I made up a silly, improvised, “push record and sing” type of song.

Donna and I enjoy a warm evening with some wine, a hockey game on the tv and chatting about Video Blogging Week in the Cabana. I really should have released this as the first vlog for Video Blogging Week. :)

I recall a few months back, I lobbied to move NaVloPoMo to the summer. I’ve changed my stance. Although having nice weather outside encourages me to film more, it also means I have to do more editing. November is a great month for editing. :)

yeah, video making is best when its cold and wet outside. That’s when its time to go deep.

I was holding the camera the wrong way am away from my other computer so can’t spin this around.

it’s walking through Balat – the older part of Istanbul in the afternoon when the call to prayers is heard throughout the streets. so I mostly captured this for the audio. it’s carried across the whole neighbourhood. happened again when we were at Sultan Ahmet and surrounded by the mosques so the sound is all around you – echoing. by this time my battery was flat so I only have the audio on my old phone (so it doesn’t sound the best)

Things didn’t go as I had planned that day. I had a topic all set to go. But when I got to the YouTube meet up in San Diego I felt kind of mellow and had a more experiential time, rather than trying to accumulate a lot of interviews. I guess I wanted to spend time with people I have been meeting at the gatherings, and that is what the footage reflects. I’m always amazed at what the footage “tells you.”

It’s crazy weather week in South Dakota. Just thought you all might like to see some of my neighborhood. We live in a very old part of town, and it’s always a challenge to keep the place up, but we love it.

Was that your Car in the garage, Milt? Seems a great place to live to me indeed! Once I was in Canada before going to the US and I found myself suddenly in what they call an Electric Storm out there. Just a sunny day. No clouds in the sky and then in one minute the sky turned as black as the night and then Bang, Bang Bang, the gods switching the lights off and on, the earth shaking and rain pouring down like the dam had broken down… so I sat and waited until it all was over. Never forgot that event and experience. Still. Great Place To Live! :-D

Thanks Huub,
actually the silver van is our vehicle. The car in the garage is our neighbor across the street. So I shot that from our front porch. It is a wonderful area to live. Rapid City is a town of about 60,000 folks. We live about a block away from the Black Hills, and our place has 3 apple trees from an old apple orchard. The area is filled with little houses that were once summer homes. There is a lake, park and green way about 1/2 a mile away, where I walk, and Jamie and I swim all summer.
Thanks for the comment.

Lindsay directed me to a small stream that’s just around the corner. Thanks Kiddo, nice place.

(I’m going to post the remainder of the videos for VideoBloggingWeek here in Semanal. I encourage everyone to do the same. Great way to get ideas for the rest of Semanal. Keep those camera’s rolling.)

Back in and around 1990, Donna and I went to a local hobby show. There was many neat and exciting things we saw that day but something caught my eye. I pulled Donna close and said “I want one, some day I’ll be able to build my own.” Well 10 years later I have started to build my own N Scale coffee table. Built year 2000-2003.

can somebody delete the former posts of this video…I had to re-edit and upload it again

2008-05-01 09:17:10

I deleted your first 2 posts. I also made you an admin for semanal so you can change anything you need to.

what problems are you having with wordpress when you post?

Thanks Jay-I guess the problems I am having are related to my browser-usually hacked-filtered…then I got files not being recognized by wordpress(e.g thumbnail) but then if I insist it will get posted …not serious stuff but sometimes bothers

Since I was a little girl I’ve been somewhat intrigued at the car wash. I think somehow now going to the car wash reminds me of being a little girl.

Only in Arizona can you run through the sprinklers in early April. We had a record 103 degrees in some parts of the state. This is how we cool off.

Earlier this month, out hamster Maizie died suddenly. Everyone in the family was upset, and it seemed a good idea to get another hamster.

This video is a collection of clips of the new hamster “Hazel” taken on her first day with us, set to music.

Semanal08 : Week 17 – Chicken Pie Shop
It’s a Friday night. We are hungry. It’s the end of a long week. Nobody wants to cook. What to do.
..
One of our favourite take away eateries is the La Palma Chicken Pie Shop. It is on La Palma Blvd in Anaheim and it serves chicken pot pies. Nuff said. The food is all home made and is really tasty. They have the best mashed potatos and gravy. And cookies. Macaroons, snowballs, molases, peanut butter. So tasty.
