A pantsless summer moment in MN.

I had no time to get out and film anything this past week, so this Semanal piece is another edit of some old footage from 2006.

When I bought my house about 15 years ago, it came with a cherry tree about as tall as my shoulder. Over the years it has grown, and now gives us a lovely crop of juicy red cherries every spring. By August 2006, though it was a bit wild and overgrown, so we hired two men to come and prune it back for us.

This video was partly filmed by me and partly by my daughter Elizabeth.

At Least Someone’s Taking Off
Last Thursday, I was supposed to be on a flight to Houston for work. When I got to the airport I saw an email on my Blackberry that said “Don’t go. Please confirm receipt.” The dilemma then was that I couldn’t go home due to traffic and HOV restrictions so I had to find something to do.

I was out of town this weekend, brought my laptop, edited, then my brand new power adapter decided to stop working and I didn’t have enough juice to upload. Foiled again by technology. Here’s my week 10.

Happy birthday to me!

Yes today is my birthday, Im 32 today.. WOW I certainly dont feel 32? I suppose thats a good thing though. With it being my birthday I had a few things to get done. I needed to get my drivers license renewed, had to do some stuff at the town hall, and we were getting low on fruits!

With the travels I decided to be BAD and pick up some stuff for lunch. I grabbed a small pack of hot dogs and a Mt. Dew. OH it was good. And for those who arent from New England you may not realize that Hot Dogs are SUPPOSED to be RED! Yes real hot dogs are red.

Well my birthday lunch is done, so I guess its time to get back on track and loose this weight and get back under 200Lbs! Im thinking I should exercise this afternoon before I pick up the boys.. Perhaps chopping ice?

In my case when I was small, my father spoke Dutch a lot of the time, and although I don’t recall ever discussing such things, it was obvious without even thinking that De Roltrap is Dutch for escalator.

Are you interested in collaborators? can we send you escalator footage from our own parts of the world? If so, do you have a preferred size/format/whatever?

Sounds like another great Semanal Game to me

By the way: De Roltrap is the dutch word for The Escalator. Crazy enough it might seem a bit connected to Booby Trap for english ears.

Anyway, I wish you would go to Washington DC. The escalators there are amazing. I’m thinking specifically of the escalator coming up to Dupont Circle. It’s sooooooo long. In fact, it’s a bit scary because if you look down, or even look too far up, you start to feel dizzy. I haven’t forgotten about the interview - just busy with a bunch of others. soon.

Here’s FCC Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein talking about Net Neutrality. He discusses the need to think about how we ensure open broadband network, especially in light of the recent network management that Comcast has been doing. It would be crazy to allow corporations to decide how our most important communication system is to be used, when they are by nature only concerned about short term gain for a small group of people.

(by the way, I’m loving the videos this week. hard to beat last week’s videos.)

I have been trying to see. See colors, shapes and lines. See accidental art and intentional design.

I did take a design class a few year ago. I think I failed it. But I keep plugging along and bit by bit I see more than you think is there.
