I added an old Cokin lens filter to my Xacti Camcorder. How cool is this?
I’d also like to thank all those that were involved in adding the ability for us to show a thumbnail and inline video play on this site.
I’ve added it to my site and am urging all WordPress users to add the ability for video commenting. http://videoblogginggroup.pbwiki.com/Adding-video-commenting-to-WordPress
Got a comment to add on my vlog? My site, like Semanal, is now Video Comment Friendly.
nice, very nice
Great idea Mike! I really like the effect. I know it was tough cutting that medicine top off.
Jeff
Oh YEAH! I’m waaay gonna check out some of my old filters…

I am the teaching assistant for a digital video class. This week my task was to give a demonstration on logging and capturing in Final Cut. One cool thing Final Cut will do is allow you to recapture any clips that you may have deleted while still saving all the edits in the timeline. I couldn’t resist trashing all of my footage and having it randomly reconnect in the timeline. Strange………
that is the beauty of offline editing. edit low res. delete your footage. recapture hi-res. your edit rebuilds itself. I have been bitten in the pat by dodgy timecode, so I could not do the whole recapture routine and had to do it manually…a royal pain. The lesson I learned: black and stripe my tapes before shooting (let the camera record over the entire tape with the lens cap on. Forces good timecode to be written beginning to end…) Pass that on to your students

My recap of the Amsterdam Vlogger Meetup (Jan 17), with Jay & Ryanne as special guests :), and snippets of Video Vortex.
It was all shot on my Nokia N93, hence the lack/loss of quality.
PS, this is my first Semanal video, see if I can catch up..
(what’s that weirdo in the video talking about?) while in europe, Ive never seen so many Nokia N93/95 before.
hahahaha, ok, he needs an introduction:
1) he is a friend of Michael
2) he is an artist
3) he is a sort of confused artist, in limbo
3) that night he was a very drunk artist
4) that night, on camera, he was drunk artist speaking Dutch with a hint of English
5) I didn’t understand most of his slurred Dutch either
yeah, Nokia in Europe, because it has the widest range of high-end phones for 3G etc, has biggest share of the market here, ever since the mobile phone was introduced. We luvv our Nokia’s. Plus, phone plans here are cheap, and u can switch operators easily. Hence, the iPhone won’t make it as big as it did in the US.

made in isadora and inspired by Will from Taylor Street Studio’s work - I’m running some tests to see if I can work out how to do some of the effects he does as I love his work - it’s so beautiful! http://www.taylorstreetstudio.com
the music is an excerpt of the song “mimi on the beach” by jane siberry (now known as issa) http://www.issalight.com
the footage is taken at bethells beach west of auckland, new zealand in early 2007
oh, and thanks very much for everyone who worked on the video comments - all the posts look great with the image. & it’s easy to use too. (sorry was tired last night and forgot to mention my thanks)
agreed. Ze Nuno and Michael A. to the rescue! looks great.
I really liked this one. The music added well to the visuals, making it a haunting piece. It’s a story I wanted to see more of.

Freak Show (Or: messing around with FCE for Semanal)
From: http://www.makevideo.org.uk/2008/01/31/trafalgar-day-2005-at-the-lord-nelson-pub/
Back in October 2005 I took my little digital video camera to the Trafalgar Day 200th Anniversary celebrations at the “Lord Nelson” pub about a fifteen minute walk from my house. Over two years later, and thanks to semanal, I finally got around to editing it.
You can read more about the pub here, here, or here.

Here’s mine from my trip to Cuba.
From: http://dltq.org/2008/01/31/like-a-painting/
My first video for Semanal is an introduction to the problem: Treating the video footage like we treat the visual medium elsewhere, like in paintings, or on quilts. If we can mix colours to make new colours to use to paint with, or we can make new patterns with the threads, why cannot we let the video medium be more free from its ancestry? Free from the narrative boundaries it was set within.
I will explore this further, and I look forward to watching tons of interesting videos on here the coming months.

We did four videos this week. It happens sometimes. Only one is being placed here.
Liam’s First Video. Liam is three, and he plays with the video camera often but rarely shoots anything that doesn’t cause a bit of motion sickness. This time he did a rather well job. He picked up the camera and started to interview me. Unfortunatly he didn’t record his actual questions.
Still not bad for a three year old.

Second to family, the best part of Tijuana is the food. My mother-in-law is always cooking, always serving. Always. Seriously, she doesn’t stop. From the moment someone walks in the door, some sort of food already warm on the stove will be placed in front of them whether their hungry or not. It’s a beautiful thing. Lucky for me, the food is quite good
She’s famous for the after-dinner line “Hago unos hotcakes? Should I make some pancakes?”
don’t watch this video if your hungry.
